tomato tropes

Ripe Tomatoes

I found the ripe tomato
in the garden though
it wasn’t my garden and
I’d not been looking
nor had I wondered
at its taste or the feel
of its skin polished
in my hand

I stole it from the vine
And this is my confession
I knew it was to be
your breakfast

but the seeds
were too wonderful
and the sun
was in my eyes
so I ate your tomato today
Or was it yesterday

thanks to the Radish King

This reminds me of "This is just to say" by Williams Carlos Williams.

Thanks for the read One. Actually, the reason these lines exist is to illustrate the validity of Hirshfield's point... & Mozart, Stein &... in my previous post.

This is not the only rip-off of Williams' poem on the plums, I've seen a whole bunch of them around, and damn! The formula always seems to work. And Sam, as you were kind enough to comment at my site so I'm linking to you.
