must have...

Already out there... Apocalypse Now: The Complete Dossier (Francis Ford Coppola, dir.)

In September, the reissue from Criterion... Seven Samurai (Akira Kurosawa, dir.)

In November, from Criterion... The Double Life of VĂ©ronique (Krzysztof Kieslowski, dir.)

Kieslowski's film, an absolute masterpiece, is both underrated and under-viewed. If you've never seen this one, have I got a film for you...

Oh, Sam, Sam, Sam...you've made my day by mentioning one of the greatest films every made...The Double Life of Veronique. I am a Kieslowski fanatic and I think Irene Jacob did her best work with him. Yes, this should be on everyone's must own list. I've had it on DVD from the UK for a few months (Artificial Eye released essentially the same thing Criterion is releasing)and it's really stunning.

I also highly recommend Criterion's release of "Elevator to the Gallows" with Jeanne Moreau.

I have never seen it! I will definately rent it. I am so behind in films that it is not even funny.
