the ability to be...

“This is a nation that has lost the ability to be self-critical, and that makes a lie out of the freedoms.” – Joni Mitchell

Without the will or grace to look inward, what’s the value of freedom? And, assuming a truth could be found if one were to look, what are the chances of speaking it so it can be heard? And if it were heard, how long would it take to know it – to accept it?

Something about the wind, I guess. Or trees on a hill, and rivers at dusk. A sky so heavy it brushes your cheek when you breathe in.
