no stepping twice...
“There are books so alive that you're always afraid that while you weren't reading, the book has gone and changed, has shifted like a river; while you went on living, it went on living too, and like a river moved on and moved away. No one has stepped twice into the same river. But did anyone ever step twice into the same book?”
—Marina Tsvetaeva, Pushkin and Pugachev, 1937

Interesting observation Sam. There’s a lot of truth in that statement. One book I read over and over is Balancing Heaven and Earth by Robert Johnson. Every time I read the book, I swear it’s different. And then I’m forced to realize again, that by the very reading of it, again I’ve changed. Thanks Sam.
i feel that with the book I'm reading. it's so good I'm almost wary of picking it back up to start reading again, fearing it can't be sustained
It doesn't often happen to me, but when it does, I know it will be a new experience every time.
Interesting notes. Thanks to each of you.
