make visible...
“Make visible what, without you, might never have been seen.”
Robert Bresson, Notes on the Cinematographer
(Trans. Jonathan Griffin, 1986)

No one sees as I see. I define the world I walk in and on.
Of course, one should replace I with you. But that’s not enough – Replace the word see with hear, with feel, with touch, with speak...
And don’t stop there. World could be chair, field, stairway…
Exchange walk with cook, and a room becomes your grandmother…

Indeed Sam. That’s a great observation. I’ve always said that perception defines reality – and getting others to see it is the difficult part. Sharing someone else’s reality, especially through film is always a treat.
Sam, this is so quiet, I realy like it. Sometimes I forget my peace, with all the coffee and multitasking and multiple tabs open in my damn browser. But yesterday, while driving home and feeling so sickened by work I mightthrow up, my eyes looked upward to the bit of blue thrashing through the dark gray rain clouds, and I felt lifted, as if they were connected to my heart by a string. Seeing (in whatever sense you see) is power.
Thanks Dennis. I agree with you about film.
And Nicole I appreciate the observation. I like your progression to translation. Interesting.
Melissa, quiet is a great word for this. Thanks for your read.
