New rhythms – New tones – More with less – All are trademarks of the 1959 sessions that created this album.

Add to Miles Davis’ gifted trumpet the power of John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, and Bill Evans – and you have a music of perfection. For me, the finest musical moment ever recorded. Huge influence on my writing.

Here’s a site posting a transcription of the sessions... Amazing dialogue.

This is the album that swayed my son at age 10 to play trumpet (and play it well). I think it's the greatest session I've heard.

My son can exhale for 72 seconds. He has some chops, I'm telling you.

That's a wonderful story, Pamela. And you won't get an argument from me on the session's greatness. An unbelievable recording.
