Pink Moon

A fabulous recording – Drake’s last. Pure music. The voice and guitar – drenched in mood.

When lifting the mask from a local clown
And feeling down like him
And I’m seeing the light in a station bar
And travelling far in sin
And I’m sailing downstairs to the northern line
Watching the shine of the shoes
And hearing the trials of the people there
Who’s to care if they lose.

I'm a big fan of Drake... especially 'Pink Moon' and 'Five Leaves Left'. "Drenched in mood" is right.

Couldn't find much else on the net by Drake without paying for it, found one other snatch from Pink Moon, found both selections rather boring and unimaginative as musical compositions, though I love his voice. Lucky or unlucky to be "discovered" after his death? Both, I guess. Too bad he didn't get better treatment for his depression. Then the medicines are so much better today.

Hope you'll give Drake a more thorough listen, CE.

Thanks for the read, Andrew. Drake's music is strong and very non-generic.

I have almost all Drake's albums, but Pink Moon - his last - so minimalistic, fatalistic, and almost whimsically gloomy, is my favorite.

"Whimsically gloomy" is a perfect description of the recording. His voice is such a wonder. Thanks for the comment, Jeannine.
