I love this song and Johnny Cash's interpretation of it.
I rediscovered it when my father was dying...so powerful.
Cash’s voice in the American Recordings’ series is phenomenal, and has few equals. Actually, it’s not just his voice – it’s the atmosphere created by the project. Nine cds that build such a unique, emotional landscape. Every listen is fresh. Thanks for the visit, Clare.
This may be the one instance of where the cover is better than the original. Such a powerful interpretation and the video -- esp. June crying on the stairs -- is heartbreaking.
I do like the version by Nine Inch Nails - but this one blows me away.
