Eddie Vedder, from the soundtrack, Into the Wild

You think you have to want
more than you need
until you have it all you won't be free

A powerful story - and one that is absolutely misunderstood by many. Sean Penn's film captures the force and scope of Jon Krakauer's book. I really go for this song.

The book.

My god, the book.

I read it after my father gave it to me to read after my older brother gave it to my father to read.

The experience of reading it can't be summed up in words.

I used to live in what felt like wilderness in New Hampshire. Years ago. I could walk out my back door and keep walking through woods and never see another house or human being for an hour.

Maybe because of that experience, of living on the edge, and in the wilderness, I've always thought of it as being maybe the holiest place on earth.

And that's probably why the book moved me so deeply.

I can't wait to see the movie.

One of my favorite books, and the movie is on my list to see.

You're right, Laurel, the feeling or awakening after reading the book can't really be put into words.

Thanks for the visit, Suzanne. It is an important film.
